After that first day of filming, Brianna came over every morning to make breakfast for the two of them. It was usually only thirty minutes or so before Marcos arrived to drive them to set. Jessica was mostly asleep for the most part, so it was a quiet affair, but after a few weeks, she realized it was the favorite part of her day.

Unlocking the front door became one of the first things she did in the morning, so that Brianna would be able to come in without having to knock first. Oliver started to look forward to Brianna coming too, meowing happily whenever she came into the kitchen and winding around her legs.

The two of them would sit at the kitchen table, Brianna typing away on her phone and Jessica either forcing her eyes to stay open or sometimes flicking through the pages of her script while Oliver mewed at them, hoping for one of them to drop something on the floor for him.

Sometimes Jessica would look up to see Brianna watching her with something soft in her eyes, and she would blush for absolutely no reason. Or sometimes Jessica would realize she was looking at Brianna a little too long with a smile on her face, and she would have to look away fast before the other woman noticed.

Filming started, and though every single day Jessica would feel a queasy churning in her stomach, she refused to throw up the breakfast Brianna made for her. She was lucky, though. Most of her scenes were filmed with either Ryan, Jack, or both, and working with them was a breeze. They were filming in mostly chronological order, so for the first few months nothing was too sappy, which Jessica was grateful for.

“Hopefully I can just ease into the romance bit of it all,” she told Brianna one day while driving back with Marcos. “You know? Like I’ll figure it out as we go along.”

“Right,” Brianna said, and Jessica hoped that if Brianna believed she could do it, then that would be enough.

Ryan and Jack were great to work with, but she had yet to work with Lillian. She caught flashes of her on set, a swish of blonde hair or the shine of a thigh high boot, but they didn’t have scenes to film together until the end of the movie, and unlike the rest of the cast, no one seemed in any rush to introduce Jessica to Lillian.

Usually, at the end of the day, Jessica would meet with Claire to go over notes for the day, talking about any changes that needed to be made in how she was playing Julia’s character, or plans for next the day’s scenes. Then she’d wander around the set saying bye to everyone until she found Brianna, who, more often than not, was usually found wherever Jack was.

Jessica would find the two of them huddled together, whispering excitedly, or Jack would be playing around the set while Brianna alternated between watching him and scrolling through emails on her phone.
